Getting around

1Hakone Sightseeing Cruise
These sightseeing cruises have been modeled after Western European battle ships (sail boats). Three unique ships, each with their own distinct design, are in service on Lake Ashi.
2Hakone Ropeway
Holder of a Guinness World Record as the aerial ropeway with the most annual passengers in the world, Hakone Ropeway offers spectacular panoramic views of Mount Fuji on clear days.
3Hakone Tozan Line
This mountain railway service allows passengers to travel the 8.9km between Hakone-Yumoto and Gora in approx. 30 minutes. Covering a relatively short distance, the train goes by a number of notable sites.

Relaxing

4Himeshara Hot Springs
Surrounded by forest, this outdoor hot spring allows guests to relax in a hot bath while completely engrossed in nature's beauty. In addition, the water of the hot spring changes by season offering an additional visual treat.
5Amazake-chaya Tea House
Easily recognized by its thatched roof, this refined, old-fashioned teahouse is famous for its amazake (sweet sake), a refreshing drink that is produced without sugar or similar additives, and derives its sweetness solely from its main ingredient, malted rice.

Sightseeing

6Hakone Checkpoint
Established during the Edo Period in 1619, Hakone Sekisho ('Hakone Checkpoint') is a famous historical site. It was completely restored in 2007 and features several highlights. Inside the Hakone Sekisho (‘Hakone Checkpoint’) Exhibition Hall, visitors can witness reenacted scenes portraying life in Edo society.
7Suginamiki (Cedar Avenue)
The Suginamiki is an avenue of cedar trees, originally planted to shield travelers from sun exposure during summer and protect them from snow in winter. The avenue extends for about 2 kilometers and retains its original Edo-era atmosphere.
8Owakudani
The Owakudani valley was created as a result of volcanic activity in the distant past. Referred to as"the valley of hell" in ancient times, the area reminds visitors of the tremendous power of Mother Nature. According to local lore, eating just one of the area's famed kurotamago (black eggs) prolongs one's life by 7 years.
