Explore the charming town of Hakone-Yumoto in a kimono, surrounded by traditional buildings and nature. This unforgettable experience is perfect for capturing beautiful memories and photos. Hakone Yuryo is a day-use hot spring facility designed in the style of a traditional mountain retreat. The baths use the soft, skin-friendly alkaline waters of Tounosawa Onsen, one of Hakone’s famous seven hot springs. The facility includes open-air baths, ceramic pot baths, and 19 private open-air baths—the largest number in the Tokyo metropolitan area. A restaurant offering seafood and traditional hearth-cooked dishes is also available. Its convenient location makes it an easy stop during your trip.

Private open-air bath

Opened in 1914, Gora Park is Japan’s first French-style formal garden and a famous flower-viewing spot. The park features a tropical plant greenhouse, a traditional tea house, and a craft workshop offering pottery, glassblowing, and accessory-making experiences. There is also an on-site cafe and restaurant.

Designed by Danish floral artist Nicolai Bergmann, this unique space seamlessly connects people with nature, blending Hakone’s breathtaking scenery with floral art. In spring, vibrant flowers bloom, while hydrangeas reach their peak around mid-July. Autumn features Halloween-themed displays, and winter is filled with Christmas ambiance. At the on-site cafe, NOMU hakone, you can enjoy Danish open sandwiches called smørrebrød. You can also take advantage of the complimentary picnic baskets for takeout and enjoy your meal anywhere in the garden.

Owakudani Station, the highest point on the Hakone Ropeway at 1,044 meters above sea level, houses this restaurant on its second floor. It offers a panoramic view of the steaming volcanic vents, making it an ideal dining spot. Be sure to try the restaurant’s signature dish, Special Owakudani Curry, a rich and spicy specialty that perfectly complements the stunning scenery.

Founded by the second-generation head of Pola, Tsuneji Suzuki, this museum houses a rich collection of Impressionist paintings, including works by Monet and Renoir, as well as Western masterpieces from Picasso and Foujita, alongside contemporary art. Visitors can also explore a 1-kilometer-long forest trail, dine at the museum restaurant featuring seasonal menus, and browse the museum shop for exclusive items.

This is a museum specializing in Venetian glass, featuring around 100 carefully selected pieces on display at all times from its collection of approximately 1,000 works. The exhibits focus on masterpieces from the golden age of the 15th and 16th centuries, along with ancient glass from before the Common Era, 19th-century decorative glass, and 20th-century glass art. In the garden overlooking Owakudani, seasonal flowers and crystal glass artworks shine beautifully. The museum also includes a shop and a cafe-restaurant.

This meticulously restored Edo-period checkpoint was once a key security facility along the Tokaido highway, linking Edo (Tokyo) and western Japan. Visitors can explore historic structures, exhibitions of period artifacts, and live performances reenacting scenes from the past. Set against the backdrop of Lake Ashi and Mt. Fuji, the site offers a blend of history and natural beauty.
