A Word from the Okami (Manageress)

Gora has a high altitude and is said to be one of the leading summer resorts in the Tokyo metropolitan area. Please enjoy a non-ordinary experience away from the hustle and bustle of the city, gazing at the summer stars of Mt. Myojo (Daimonji) from our prized guest rooms, all of which have private onsen open-air baths.
Recommended Point ①: All Rooms with Private Natural Onsen Open-Air Baths

At “Setsugetsuka Bettei Sui-un,” all 43 guest rooms are equipped with a natural onsen open-air bath made of hinoki cypress. In your private space, you can enjoy the onsen whenever you like, enveloped in the scent of cypress. Depending on the room type, rooms on the garden side allow you to soak in the onsen while gazing at the majestic scenery of the Hakone outer caldera.

This ryokan is in a perfect location where you can fully enjoy the rich nature of Gora and feel the changing of the seasons. You can savor the scenery of each season: fresh greenery in spring, a dazzling blue sky in summer, autumn leaves in fall, and the crisp air of winter.

Grand Public Bath

The spacious grand public bath has an indoor bath scented with hinoki cypress, a rock-style semi-open-air bath, and a sauna. The soft-quality hot water will soothe your mind and body. A sauna and a cold water bath are also available, so it might be nice to take more time than usual to refresh yourself.

Private Baths

A great point is that there are three private baths, each with a different elaborate design, all of which can be used at no extra charge. “Oka no Yu” (Cypress) is a hinoki bath where the warmth of natural wood is pleasant. You can enjoy a non-ordinary feeling with the scent of hinoki and fantastical lighting.
The rock-style “Keika no Yu” (Rock) is a private bath with a rustic and powerful onsen-like atmosphere. The ceramic bathtub of “Kikka no Yu” (Ceramic) makes the hot water feel even softer, enhancing relaxation.
None of them require a reservation; you can check their availability on the information board lamp near the courtyard entrance and use them when they are free. Since you can use them as many times as you like during your stay while they are available, be sure to tour the baths and find your favorite.

■【Cuisine】Enjoy Seasonal Ingredients with Your Eyes and Palate
At “Setsugetsuka Bettei Sui-un,” we offer a Japanese kaiseki meal for dinner that generously uses seasonal ingredients. For breakfast, you can choose between Japanese and Western styles, and the “Yonaki Soba” (nightly noodles) served as a late-night snack is also popular. Furthermore, there is a free lounge and floor bars available 24 hours a day, so please stop by when you visit.
A Word from the Head Chef
“Cha-kaiseki” is unadorned, with all waste eliminated. Inheriting that spirit, our “Unshinan Cha-kaiseki-style” course adds color to the “one soup, three dishes” with seasonal vegetables and the chef’s heartfelt dedication. Please enjoy it at your leisure in our calm dining area, along with carefully selected tableware and choice sake.
Dinner

For dinner, you can enjoy a Japanese kaiseki meal using seasonal ingredients. The head chef puts his heart into cooking the seasonal ingredients that are only available at that time and serves them on carefully selected dishes. A charm is the menu that lets you feel the season, such as a visually refreshing ice bowl in summer.
There are also selectable items within the kaiseki course, and the sukiyaki eaten with a slow-cooked egg, which you can choose from the warm dishes, is particularly popular. How about feeling the changing of the seasons with your eyes and palate?
Late-Night Snack

For a late-night snack, we offer the Kyoritsu Resort specialty “Yonaki Soba,” which can be eaten when you’re a little hungry. Its refreshing taste is perfect for a late-night meal.
Breakfast

For breakfast, you can choose between Japanese and Western styles according to your mood. The Japanese breakfast is served in a three-tiered wooden box. The freshly made tofu from soy milk is exceptionally delicious. There are also dishes inside the drawers of the three-tiered box, so you can enjoy the excitement of opening them.
The Western breakfast is a very satisfying set from the morning, with a plate mainly of seafood, soup, salad, and more. You can also have seconds on the bread.
Free Lounge "Aoyama"

In the 24-hour free lounge on the B1 floor, free drinks and snacks are always available at no charge. Both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks are available. A beer server is installed, so you can taste freshly poured beer with a fine head on the spot.
There is also a corner where you can enjoy nostalgic “dagashi” (cheap sweets), which is perfect for snacks or nibbles. Staying up late with your favorite snacks and drinks could also become a wonderful memory of your trip.
Floor Bar "Kimi-machi-dokoro"

At the floor bar “Kimi-machi-dokoro” next to the elevators on the 2nd to 4th floors, drinks and snacks are offered for free 24 hours a day instead of a vending machine.
The lineup includes mineral water, tea, carbonated drinks, and canned chu-hai. There is also a tea bag corner that will please tea lovers, with a rich variety including sencha, black tea, and caffeine-free fruit tea. You can take what you like back to your room to enjoy.

■Recommended Hakone Tourist Spots
Besides onsen, Hakone is also full of tourist spots such as museums and theme parks. Here are some recommended tourist spots to visit when staying at “Setsugetsuka Bettei Sui-un.”
Hakone Venetian Glass Museum

A must-visit for Hakone sightseeing is the “Hakone Venetian Glass Museum.” It is Japan’s first museum specializing in Venetian glass, exhibiting masterpieces of Venetian glass from the 15th to the 19th century.
The garden, inspired by medieval Venice, has a beautiful crystal glass arch, and with its outdoor exhibits and seasonal flowers, it is truly spectacular. The garden also has an adjoining cafe where you can listen to live, authentic Canzone performances. There is also a glasswork experience workshop, perfect for making memories with your loved ones.
Hakone Kowakien Yunessun

“Hakone Kowakien Yunessun” is an all-weather onsen theme park where you can play in a swimsuit all year round. There are plenty of water activities, from the classic lazy river to a unique wine bath. You can bring your smartphone into the pool area and take videos and photos to preserve your trip’s memories.
There is also an area where you can enjoy camping without bringing any gear, allowing you to fully enjoy the great nature of Hakone. It is recommended for leisure with family, couples, or friends.
Hakone Shrine

There are many power spots in Hakone, but “Hakone Shrine” is particularly famous. It is a historic shrine said to have been founded in 757, and it is constantly visited by worshippers seeking benefits for good fortune, warding off evil, fulfillment of wishes, and matchmaking. The mystical appearance of the “Heiwa-no-torii” (Gate of Peace) floating on Lake Ashi is also famous on social media.
Since the entire Hakone region is considered a power spot, it might be a good opportunity to visit multiple shrines such as “Kuzuryu Shrine” and “Tamadare Shrine” to experience their different atmospheres.
