【Day 1】Depart from Shinjuku Station

Arrive at Hakone Yumoto Station

Hakone Shrine

After a 30-minute bus ride, get off at the Motohakone-ko bus stop. A 10-minute walk along the scenic lakeside brings you to Hakone Shrine. With a history dating back to 1267, it has been revered by many samurai and is now a popular spot for athletes and those seeking success. It’s also known for blessings in love and as a spiritual power spot. The iconic "Torii of Peace" on the lake is a popular photo spot.

Lunch with a view at Hotel de Yama

After visiting Hakone Shrine, take a 10-minute walk along the lakeside to the historic Hotel de Yama. Enjoy seasonal flowers and breathtaking views of Lake Ashi from the hotel's gardens. On clear days, you can even see Mt. Fuji. After your garden tour, enjoy your delicious lunch at the French restaurant "Vert Bois" or the Japanese restaurant "Tsutsuji no Chaya" with spectacular views of Lake Ashi.

Ride on the Hakone Sightseeing Cruise to Togendai

Take the free shuttle bus from Hotel de Yama back to Motohakone-ko. At Motohakone-ko, board the dream-like Hakone Sightseeing Cruise that cross Lake Ashi. A pirate ship crossing a scenic lake is like stepping into the world of fairy tales, and is a very exciting experience for children. It's also fun to take in the views of Hakone Shrine and the Hotel de Yama you just visited from the boat.

Ride the Hakone Ropeway to Owakudani

Disembark at Togendai and transfer to the Hakone Ropeway. Enjoy a 30-minute aerial journey to Owakudani, a volcanic area with hot springs and vents.

At an altitude of 1,044 meters (about 3425 feet), Owakudani is a high point from which you can get a panoramic view of Hakone's natural scenery. Here, you can observe the volcanic fumes up close and enjoy the local specialty black eggs, which are said to extend your lifespan by seven years along with the scenic views. In addition, at the "Owakudani Nature Study Trail," you can walk even closer to the volcanic fumes under the guidance of staff and observe volcanic activity (reservations and fee required).

Enjoy an authentic mountain railway ride to Hakone-Yumoto Station

Once again, enjoy a 15-minute journey on the ropeway to Sounzan Station. From here, transfer to the Hakone Tozan Cable Car and head to Gora Station. You will descend a steep slope with an elevation difference of 209 meters (about 686 feet). It takes about 10 minutes to reach Gora Station.

At Gora Station, transfer to the Hakone Tozan Train. The train zigzags up and down the mountain slopes, using a switchback system. There are three switchbacks, where the driver and conductor switch places. Also, there is a famous and popular part of the tracks on the Hakone Tozan Train. In June, hydrangeas bloom along the road, making the fantastical hydrangea train that runs through the illuminated area very popular. Also, Deyama Bridge is a famous spot for Hakone Tozan Train that cross the mountains. It takes only a few seconds to pass through, so don't miss it!

Relax at your private open-air bath in your room/Hatsuhana

Board the Hakone Tozan Train to Hakone Yumoto Station. Here, take the Hakone Tozan Bus (K Line) for a 10-minute ride to your hotel for the day, Hatsuhana. 【Day 2】Explore the Enoshima-Kamakura Area

After a delightful breakfast at Hatsuhana, take the shuttle bus to Hakone Yumoto Station.
Enjoy choosing your Hakone specialty souvenirs at Hakone-no-ichi Shop inside the station and then head to your next destination.

Board the Limited Express Romancecar for a one-hour ride to Machida or Sagami-Ono Station, then transfer to the Odakyu Enoshima Line. A 20-minute ride on the rapid express takes you to Fujisawa Station.

Lunch by the sea at Ristorante Amalfi

At Fujisawa Station, transfer to the Enoden and head to this popular lunch spot along the sea.
The Enoden runs through the city and along the sea, with the railway lined with houses right up to the edge of the tracks.
After passing Koshigoe Station, the sea spreads out in front of you as the train runs along the sea. And after passing Kamakura Koko-mae Station with its platform facing the sea, you will arrive at Shichirigahama Station.

Get off at Shichirigahama Station and walk along the coastline to this popular Italian restaurant. At Ristorante Amalfi, enjoy authentic Italian cuisine while gazing at the beautiful Shichirigahama beach and the Enoshima island.

Visit the Great Buddha at Kotoku-in

Return to Shichirigahama Station and get off at Hase Station. Stroll through the historic streets of Kamakura to Kotoku-in, home to the famous Great Buddha (Amida Nyorai), a national treasure standing at 13.35 meters. Explore the interior of the statue and admire the advanced techniques used in its construction over 750 years ago.

Stroll along the Komachi Street

From the Hase Station, take the Enoden again to Kamakura Station. The historic city of Kamakura flourished as a political center from the late 11th century to the 16th century. Even today, it still exudes the atmosphere of an ancient capital, and at the same time, it is a popular tourist destination with a variety of attractions.

Explore Komachi Street, parallel to the main approach to Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine. Discover traditional crafts, souvenirs, fashion accessories, and a variety of eateries. It’s the perfect place for souvenir shopping.

Visit Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine

After strolling down Komachi Street, head to the shrine said to be the heart of Kamakura, and the home of the guardian deity revered by the first shogun of the Kamakura shogunate, Minamoto no Yoritomo, and other generals of the Minamoto clan. After visiting Tsurugaoka Hachimangu, you can hop back on an Enoden train and head to Enoshima Station.
Enoshima has a lively, seaside atmosphere, which is different from the ancient charm that Kamakura offers. From Benten Bridge, which connects the mainland to the island, you can take in stunning views of both Mount Fuji and the ocean. A bustling street lined with souvenir shops and restaurants leads to the red torii gate of Enoshima Shrine. From there, you can use the Enoshima Escar, a series of escalators that will take you to the top of the island, passing several shrine buildings along the way.
At the summit, you’ll find the Enoshima Samuel Cocking Garden, as well as the island’s iconic Enoshima Sea Candle, a lighthouse with an observation deck. From the top, you can enjoy a magnificent 360-degree view of the Shonan coastline, the ocean, and townscapes. Within the garden, there are cafes, shops and galleries to explore. 【Day 3】Appreciate traditional Japanese art/Machida City Museum of Graphic Arts

After checking out of the hotel, the final day of the trip begins.
From Fujisawa Station, take the Odakyu Enoshima Line to Machida Station.

Machida is a large town with many department stores and shopping malls. Take a 15-minute stroll through the city to Serigaya Park. Within the park, there is a world-renowned art museum that specializes in printmaking, with a collection of approximately 33,000 excellent prints and related art materials from Japan and abroad. The museum also has brilliantly planned exhibitions, where you can experience the multifaceted appeal of beautiful prints, including traditional Japanese art such as ukiyo-e. There is also a museum shop and a cafe inside the building.

Lucky cat temple/Gotokuji Temple

After viewing the prints, take the Odakyu Line and get off at Gotokuji Station, which takes about 30 minutes, to visit Gotokuji, which is known as the Temple of the Lucky Cat. It is a popular spot where lucky cats are lined up in the shrine grounds.

The story of the temple is quite interesting. One day, a lord was returning from deer hunting when a cat appeared in front of the gates and invited him into the temple. After the lord entered the temple, suddenly there was thunderclap and it started to rain. The lord was happy to be protected from the rain and not be struck by lightning. He then used the beckoning cat as an opportunity to support this temple. Since then, cats have become symbols of good luck and good luck. Lucky Nekoji (beckoning cat statue) can be purchased at the temple office, and cat-related goods are also available.

A cool and hip town/Shimo-Kitazawa

Three stations from the Gotokuji Station on the Odakyu Line lays the Shimo-Kitazawa Station. Very popular with young people both within Japan and overseas, Shimo-Kitazawa is a trendy town. It is the mecca of vintage clothing in addition to being a competitive area for curry and ramen. Shimo-Kitazawa is filled with a downtown atmosphere, filled with a variety of restaurants and small independent shops. The area is also popular for its low-rise, next-generation shopping malls that have been created as a result of redevelopment around the station with a downtown feel. Return to Shinjuku
