Just a short trip from Tokyo,Hakone has great hot springs at the foot of Mount Fuji.

Traveling on the Odakyu Limited Express Romancecar, Hakone is about 80 minutes from Shinjuku at the foot of Mount Fuji. For more than 400 years, Hakone has flourished as a favorite onsen destination.
In Hakone, there are many fine hot springs (onsen) and locations with magnificent views of Mount Fuji. Treat yourself and enjoy the beautiful scenery in so many different ways: onboard a Hakone Sightseeing Cruise, from the shores of Lake Ashi, from a high-in-the-sky gondola of the Hakone Ropeway, or while bathing in a hot spring. And if that isn't enough, be sure to visit such historic attractions as Hakone Checkpoint or the stone-paved avenues of Kyukaido (old road), and for art lovers, there are unique art museums including the Hakone Open Air Museum. For nature lovers, it's easy just to stroll through the beautiful scenery and watch the seasons as they change.

Odakyu Limited Express Romancecar

  • Q1

What is the difference between the Odakyu Limited Express Romancecar and the Express Train?

    A1

On the Limited Express Romancecar, all seats are reserved, and it takes about 75 minutes to travel between Shinjuku and Hakone-Yumoto. In addition to a regular passenger ticket, a limited express ticket is required to board. On other trains, including Rapid Expresses and Expresses, there is standing space with few seats. While seating is not guaranteed, only a regular ticket is required to board. The ride between Shinjuku and Hakone-Yumoto takes about two hours.

    About the Romancecar

  • Q2

Is there an extra charge for observation deck seats on the Romancecar? Which cars have observation deck seats?

    A2

No, just the ordinary fare applies (regular ticket + limited express ticket). There are 16 panorama view seats located at the front and 16 at the rear of the 70000 series GSE and 50000 series VSE trains. Because of the limited number of seats, we recommend purchasing your seat early. Limited express seats become available for purchase at 10 a.m. one month before the departure date, and observation deck seats can be reserved if not yet taken.

Online purchases of limited express tickets

  • Q3

    Riding the Romancecar

  • Q5

Can limited express tickets be reserved?
